Is a leading Automotive manufacturer and is currently experiencing an upturn in production with demand increasing globally.

The Role:
- Powertrain CAE Design Analyst with proven experience in base engine structural FE analysis. The role will involve supporting the concept and delivery activities of engine program and powertrain system programs in support of the exciting and challenging business cycle plan. Opportunities to develop and correlate expert capability in proven and powerful techniques in pursuit of improved design validation and virtual testing processes

Main Responsibilities

- Perform CAE analysis assessments with use of Finite Element, Powertrain specific software tools and hand calculations to support the concept and design development for a wide ranging set of gasoline and diesel engines and associated systems.
- Carry out design studies / optimisation and recommend design / manufacture changes required to perform function.
- Continuously liaise with the Powertrain design team to ensure analysis results drive design decisions.
- Report result status and recommendations.
- Develop models throughout programme and demonstrate correlation.
- Support the development and documentation of local CAE working practices

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Good understanding of solid mechanics and the dynamic behavious of structures
- Experience of Nastran & Abaqus for linear static/dynamic/forced frequency and non-linear solves, ability to generate shell/solid meshes and apply boundary conditions, using Hyperworks & Catia tools
- Experience of solid modelling using CATIA
- Fundamental knowledge of engines & powertrain systems. Good knowledge of NVH principals and associated Powertrain/Vehicle level NVH targets, engine systems and excitation mechanisms
- Good knowledge of durability assessment techniques and fatigue calculations
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels
- Effective organisational skills and ability to develop and work to plan

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Desire / track record of process improvement identification / implementation
- General programming skills
