The Company:Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal.
The Role:Reporting to: Engineering Manager, as line manager. Senior / Lead Engineer on project deliverables.
The CE&I designer is fundamentally a hands-on CAD role. The CE&I designers and solely responsible for the maintenance and development of the engineers' designs as working drawings. The CE&I designer will ensure all design standards and codes are adhered to through the design process.
Duties of the CE&I designer will include:
- Development of designs to fit within space envelope and design interfaces.
- Design draughting to meet technical specifications, drawing standards and codes primarily using AutoCAD.
- Preparation of manufacturing and installation drawings including detailing, dimensioning and tolerances.
- Liasing with Document Controllers and Design Engineers.
- Recording any design changes following the design change control procedures.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:CE&I designer candidates will ideally be HNC qualified in a technical/engineering discipline though not essential. Minimum ONC or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical, engineering or design discipline. A full UK drivers license is essential for this position as travelling between offices may be required.
The required experience of the CE&I designer candidate:
- Experience of working in a nuclear background is preferred, however not essential. It is a requirement of this position to demonstrate experience gained in a similar position, ideally from a highly regulated industry. This may be from Defence, Pharmeceutical, Oil & Gas, Automotive, Water or Food, but it is not limited to these sectors.
- Good understanding of generic CE&I principles is preferred e.g. Block Cable Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams, Panel GA's
- Computer literate with respect to Microsoft Office packages.
