The Company:
Our client is a well renowned supplier of control systems technology to both the Nuclear and Defence industries. As a result of continued growth they are seeking a IT/IS Manager to be based at their offices in the Wimborne area.

The Role:
• Liaising with the Facilities Manager and Security Controller and direct with MoD Security Advisors and others, ensuring adherence to all aspects of IT security in order to maintain appropriate accreditations
• Planning and implementing regular disaster recovery tests and produce relevant documentation
• Being responsible for setting up a SLA and help desk, owning any IT / IS related issues from receipt through to resolution, delivering a professional service to the business and providing advice / action as required to all levels of employees, working with the minimum of supervision
• Taking responsibility for managing backups / restores of all business, information and operating systems in use
• Preparing or assisting in the preparation of RMADS for submission and approval by the MoD
• Preparing annual IT budgets and manage spend against same, maximising value for money without detriment to quality or scope of service provision
• Providing KPI and regular reports on the performance of the IT system in line with the SLA
• Keeping abreast of technological advances, evaluating usefulness and application and making proposals for adoption by the business where appropriate
• Preparing and maintaining IT related processes, procedures and work instructions

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Suitable and relevant experience of resolving technical enquiries / issues from conception to completion including first line telephone support, coupled with second and third line support
• Being conversant with all aspects of IT infrastructure and security and providing support including documentation to MoD standards on Company infrastructure, firewall and e-mail components
• Specific knowledge including networking technologies (hubs switches routers), backups, hardware and software, desktop / laptop and server platforms and solid experience of Windows Server, MS Exchange
• Experience of Unix / Linux and or Sun operating systems and experience with SAN / NAS technologies
• Suitable and relevant experience within an IT support function and solid / proven understanding of IT security
• Checkpoint and Juniper Firewall experience
• Ability to prioritise work against SLA (service level agreement) working to tight timescales and deadlines
• Ability to write technical reports demon
