The Company:
Our clients Power Generation and Networks division operates in the competitive electricity utilities sector. They provide value-added engineering services and built solutions across the entire spectrum of electricity networks, from high voltage power transmission grids to low voltage industrial power distribution and controls.

The Role:
As a result of significant new business opportunities, our client now has a temporary 6 month contract for a Principal Electrical Engineer with a range of experience to strengthen our skills across the power transmission and distribution sectors in ScotlandOur client is seeking

Principal engineers are responsible for leading project teams, ensuring high quality deliverables within programme and cost constraints.
The role requires a strong client focus, excellent communication skills and the ability build successful business relationships.

Vacancies exist within our clients offices across Central Scotland.

Key responsibilities will include:

Being responsible for the technical authority of your project teams and client organisations.
Acting as the lead contact within our client organisation and being able to develop trust and confidence in our ability to deliver electrical engineering solutions.
To manage project teams to meet the needs and requirements of our clients.
Being able to develop and mentor junior engineers.
Able to work flexibly to travel to other offices and client offices both within the UK and overseas if required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience ideally gained within distribution or transmission network operators, engineering consultancy, equipment suppliers or client organisation:

Experience in one of more of the following technical areas is required:
Electrical plant and configuration design.
Protection and control design.
Earthing design.
Network planning and project development.
Power System Analysis.
Project management of HV and EHV substation construction.
Site management of substation construction.
Overhead line design.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Our preferred candidate will also have the following skills and experience:
Ideally you will be a Chartered Electrical Engineer
Previously worked at a senior level within the power generation or power networks sector.
Have previous experience of acting as the technical authority for electrical engineering designs of your project teams.
Experience of providing solutions across a range of electrical engineering problems from concept, feasibility through to completion.
Experience of managing a group of engineers within this sector including supervising and mentoring.
Experience of developing networks within complex organisation and being responsible for managing relationships both internally and within client organisations.
Able to demonstrate excellent inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills
Able to work either independently or as part of a team
Able to demonstrate a good level of competency in all Microsoft Office applications
