The Role:Position Description:
- Conduct durability and strength tests on engine mount, engine block and other systems and components.
- Ensure that components and facilities meet all engineering requirements.
- Develop test methods, evaluate test results, and issue test reports.
- Monitor and control progress of tests against program timing requirements.
- Investigate in-test failures and report findings in DURIS & AIMS - where appropriate, develop potential solutions with requesting activities.
- Guide and instruct mechanics and electricians to assist with testing.
- Ensure that appropriate standards of health and safety are maintained in the laboratory and workshop areas.
- Design and/or specify complex test rigs and other special equipment.
- Be responsible for ensuring that all equipment used adheres to calibration standards, and that the companies Quality Standards are met.
Skills Required:
- Thorough understanding of servo-hydraulic test equipment, fatigue theory, transducer selection and data collection methods.
- Ability to produce engineering drawings manually or by a CAD package.
Skills Preferred:
- Understanding of control theory and vibration theory
Experience Required:
- Experience of test rig design.
- Experience of conducting durability tests using servo-hydraulics.
Experience Preferred:
- Experience using MTS RPC and IST RS series software (these are software packages that are used to run test rigs built by MTS Systems Corp and Instron Structural Testing Systems (IST)).
- Experience writing Excel macros.
Education Required:
- Engineering Degree, MS Office (min Word & Excel) & Report Writing.
