Our client, a major oil and gas operator, requires a Project Operations Engineer (Decomissioning) to join the team on a contract basis.

The Project Operations Engineer within the Decommissioning Unit is one of two roles responsible for leading our engagement with mature assets around the world, providing late life operations expertise to create value in decommissioning.  The short-term focus of the role will be to support the Decommissioning project to its Execute gate, working closely with the regional asset team and our contractors to deliver integrated solutions to issues like power, fluid management, facilities/ P&A integration and late-life resourcing.  The role will provide exposure to a range of Project operations deliverables, working in a small team to deliver a strategically important project in an innovative way.  The individual will work internally and externally with partners, contractors and regulators.  Key accountabilities include:
•       Support the forthcoming dual FEED for decommissioning, providing input and evaluating bids from an operational perspective
•       Provide operational input to P&A challenges, including access to wells and offshore installation of a variety of P&A units
•       Contribute to an integrated Resourcing Plan, representing Decommissioning in conversations with asset leadership to optimise late life people strategy
•       Develop the strategy on a future operations model for the decommissioning phase, post CoP
•       Maintain vulnerabilities register, engaging with asset team on changes and mitigations
•       Maintain a Projects view of maintenance strategies in late life and influence accordingly, focusing on critical items for safe operations and decommissioning post CoP, including power generation and crane reliability
•       Contribute to regular Decommissioning Committee Meetings with field partners

Education
•       Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent through qualification and experience

Experience
 
•           Solid, broad-based operational experience in late life phases of asset life, with an excellent track record of delivery.
•           Experience of Major Projects processes and operations deliverables in the Projects space
•           Self-motivation and a high level of individual initiative and self-reliance are required.
•           Ability to interface, influence, and work effectively with members of Project and Production leadership.
•           Bias for simplification and efficiency with focus on fit-for-purpose deliverables that meet the needs of the business.
•           Strong ability to build partnerships, actively engage and respect contributions of others.
•           Ability and readiness to travel offshore for ad-hoc visits
•           Good written & verbal communication skills.
•       Strong analytical skills with expertise in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ability to adapt quickly to new ‘digital’ technologies.
 
Desirable criteria & qualifications
•      Project Management Professional / Association of Project Management (APM) accredited
•       Good understanding of installation operator legislation and requirements in the UK, including Safety Case
•       Experience of asset
