A consortium led by EDF Renewables has reached FID for their 498MW Fécamp Wind Farm, which is planned 13km off the Coast of Normandy.  Once in operation, the wind farm will have capacity to produce electricity for more than 770,000 people.

Valued at $2.4 billion, Fécamp Wind Farm will create 1,400 jobs during the 2-year EPC phase, and a further 100 permanent, full-time roles during its 25-year Operations & Maintenance phase.

The Fecamp offshore wind farm will create 1,400 construction jobs over 2 years, followed by 100 permanent, full-time roles over 25 years

EDF, Enbridge and WPD Offshore have chosen several major engineering and construction companies to support them in the delivery of the project by 2023, with 2 consortiums awarded EPC contracts, as well as 2 major supply contract awards:

  • Consortium 1: Saipem, Boskalis & Bouygues

Fabrication, Transport and Installation of 71 Gravity-Turbine Foundations

  • Consortium 2: GE Grid Solutions, Atlantique Offshore Solutions & SDI

Design, Manufacture and Installation of Offshore Substations

  • Siemens Gamesa

Supply of SWT-7.0-154 DD Turbines

  • Prysmian Group

Supply of HVAC 220kV Submarine Power Cables

Saipem will be collaborating with their partners to construct the foundations in the Bougainville maritime works yard, in the Grand Port Maritime of Le Havre, before they are transported by barge to site for installation.

GE Grid Solutions have once again been awarded an EPC as part of the same consortium, who are set to deliver France’s first offshore wind farm - Saint Nazaire, in 2021.

Siemens Gamesa are now constructing a wind turbine manufacturing facility in the Port of Le Havre, which will be supporting not only the Fécamp, but also Dieppe-Le Tréport, Saint Brieuc, and Yeu-Noirmoutier offshore wind projects creating additional capacity of 1.5GW.  Around 750 direct and indirect jobs will be created as a result.
