Aston Martin and Brough Superior to jointly develop limited edition motorcycle

Aston Martin has lent its name to many things over the years, from Tag Heuer watches and racing bicycles to briefcases and even apartments (prices starting from $600k!). But this week marks the first time that the Aston Martin brand will appear on a motorcycle thanks to a new partnership with Brough Superior, the recently revived luxury motorcycle company.

The two British companies have agreed to jointly develop a high-end luxury motorcycle which will be revealed at EICMA motorcycle how in Milan on 5th November.

According to a joint statement released by the companies, the new motorcycle is the combined vision of Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman and Brough Superior CEO Thierry Henriette, who are both motorcycle enthusiasts.

“This is a fascinating and very popular project for myself and my team,” says Reichman. “The opportunity to collaborate with Brough Superior has given us the chance to bring our own unique views on how beauty and engineering can combine to create a highly emotive piece of vehicle design. We’re excited about the end result and can’t wait to see the reaction the motorcycle receives when it is revealed.”

Echoing Reichman’s comments, Henriette said: “Aston Martin and Brough Superior are two luxury automotive manufacturers sharing the same passion for exclusive design and performance, the idea of developing a motorcycle in a frame of a close partnership came naturally.”

Brough Superior, which was first founded by George Brough in 1919 was resurrected in 2013 by Thierry Henriette, a highly-respected motorcycle designer who has worked for major manufacturers throughout the world. Like other revival brands such as Triumph and Norton, Brough has retained the DNA of its classics such as the SS100 whilst also bringing them into the modern age with new technologies and quality materials. Whilst the brand’s roots may lie in Britain, the new models are manufactured in Toulouse, France.

Brough Superior was favoured by such literary luminaries as T.E. Lawrence and George Bernard Shaw. Will the new Aston Martin badged Brough Superior attract a similar sort of buyer? We’ll surely find out once the model is launched…
