Aston Martin reveals its first ever motorcycle

A short while ago we reported that Aston Martin was working on its first ever motorcycle, in conjunction with revived motorcycle manufacturer Brough Superior. Well, now the AMB 001 has been revealed to the world at the EICMA 2019 motorcycle show in Milan and to be blunt, this thing is unique.

Featuring swooping curves and dominated by a blunt yet angular front-end, the AMB 001 represents Aston Martin’s vision of what a cutting-edge motorcycle should look like.

Strictly limited to just 100 examples the track-only AMB 001 is set to become an instant-classic. But it does ponder the question, who on earth would risk taking such an iconic bike onto a track?

Presented in the traditional Aston Martin Racing colours of Stirling Green and Lime Essence with Matte Black wheels, the AMB 001 is dripping with high-end components which have been specially designed using the best processes and materials, including carbon fibre, titanium and billet aluminium. Beneath those lovingly crafted body panels and components sits an impressive turbo-charged motor which at only 180 kilos (dry weight) can provide the rider with an awesome 180 hp.

It’s not often you get a turbo on a motorbike, but Aston choose this configuration because it ‘brings an incredible engine response with huge torque in a wide range of engine rpm’.

Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, who is a known motorcycle enthusiast, was effusive in his praise for the AMB 001, saying:

“This is what we believe a cutting-edge motorcycle should be and we are very proud to see the Aston Martin wings on a motorcycle for the first time. In addition to applying the skills we have developed for cars such as the ground-breaking Aston Martin Valkyrie we have also been able to bring our special expertise in the traditional craft techniques to this project. The finished product is a truly beautiful motorcycle; a design and engineering work of art.”

“Aston Martin may be 106 years-old but the forward momentum of this company is inspiring, for every area of the business but for Design in particular. The same people who work on the design of our cars have worked on the AMB 001. These people are absolute experts and have delivered many of the special project cars we have designed. Unlike at other car companies, our designers have the full breadth of experience and I think this is showcased in this aspirational bike.”

The AMB 001 will be hand-built and assembled in the Brough Superior factory in Toulouse, France. If you want to be one of the 100 lucky people to own Aston Martin’s first ever motorcycle be prepared to pay upwards of €108,000!!!
