In the wake of the London 2012 Olympics all eyes are now on Brazil as they prepare for the Rio games in 2016. However the oil and gas industry has its sights set on Brazil for very different reasons. Recently major operators Petrobras, Repsol and Statoil have made significant discoveries of oil and gas reserves in deepwater locations nearly 200 km off the Brazilian coast.
These discoveries have sparked significant interest in the region with other major operators carrying out exploration projects and starting to bring these reserves onstream. This has also had a knock on effect on engineering equipment suppliers who are moving into the region to provide drilling equipment and FPSOs to assist with this.
Fircroft in Brazil
This surge in interest in the region has had a knock on effect on Fircroft. Clients are turning to us to help them find experienced technical engineers to work on the emerging projects in the country. With oil and gas reserves hundreds of kms offshore and at depths of 10,000 ft, operators are bringing in FPSOs to reach bring these fields onstream. As a result, there are roles available for professionals with experience working in these environments, as well as openings for experienced drilling engineers.
In order to take advantage of the boom within the oil and gas industry in Brazil, we recently opened an office in Rio de Janeiro. Having a presence within the region is integral to servicing our clients in the best possible way, as well as enabling us to offer in-country support to our contractors.
