Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati may be most famous for its v-twin powered superbikes, but it’s taking a step away from fossil fuel power with a fully electric model not far from production according to the Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali.
The Ducati Zero Hypermotard gives us a strong idea of what a 100% electric Ducati may look like.

“The future is electric and we’re not far from beginning production of the series”, the executive said at a Motostudent racing event in Spain.
Ducati appears to be keen to catch-up to rivals such as Harley Davidson who are close to bringing electric bikes to the market.

Details on what the new model are scarce at present, with little to go on beyond Domenicali’s comment. According to Jalopnik magazine, Ducati has been working closely with the Milan school of polytechnic design for the last few years on a number of electric concept bikes. The most impressive of these concepts is the Ducati Zero Hypermotard, which I’m sure you’ll agree embodies Ducati’s unique style ethos.
The strong statement from Ducati's CEO makes it clear that Ducati could soon be bringing an electric model to market.

Whilst the Italian company has been leading on e-bikes for several years, it has fallen behind rivals such as Harley Davidson when it comes to fully-fledged electric motorbikes. This recent statement from their CEO makes it clear that Ducati is determined to not only catch-up but overtake the competition with an electric motorbike that will become a market-leader.

As a Ducati owner, I like the design of this bike looking very much like the Hypermotard on a selling point iam sure it will attract a lot of interest with its super looks and electric power plant which iam sure will deliver a interesting riding experience knowing Dycati. Being a petrol head biker, a owner of a Ducati Streetfighter 1098 I am fairly confident I will stay with the RIP and roar Motorcycle concept and to to look for my number 2 Ducati bike as I just love the Ducati ownership and riding experience which is like no other bike and you need to be an experienced rider to own and ride these amazing bikes so I guess the 1198 R or S would be most certainly my target bike because it's a 180 mph bike and gives me what the Japanese bikes cannot (riding excellence).
