8 months after announcing a major oil discovery from Block 15/06 in the Agogo exploration prospect, Eni have begun production from the Agogo-1 NFW well.

Production was able to be fast tracked due to the field’s proximity to the N'goma FPSO vessel, located 15km from Agogo. Eni are currently producing 10,000 barrels per day, with the intention to scale up to 20,000.
A second phase of development is also planned, which will involve two producing wells and two injectors, with options for a full field development to follow.
These plans correlate with reports from Angola’s Angola’s Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás e Biocombustíveis (ANPG), who are working with Eni on the prospect and who have said that a new development hub is being planned for the area to develop the field’s full potential.
Currently two hubs are located in the block - the Ngoma and Armada Olombendo.
Drilled by the Poseidon drillship in a water depth of 1,636 metres to a total depth of 4,450 metres, the initial discovery, made in March 2019, estimated up to 650 million barrels of light oil in place with further upside - which was confirmed by the Agogo 2 appraisal well in July.
The Agogo field is just one of eight located in Block 15/06, where 42 wells are currently in operation, with over 180 million barrels of oil already produced. It’s thought that the block could contain up to 2 billion barrels of oil in place.
