Equinor granted drilling permit for Gladsheim North Sea well



Equinor have announced a permit for drilling an offshore exploration well in the North Sea, offshore Norway.

The Gladsheim well is located in production license 921, around 28km southeast of the Troll field. The well will be drilled in a water depth of 292 metres.

The West Hercules drilling rig - a 6th generation semi-submersible built in 2008 at the Daewoo Shipyard in South Korea and owned and operated by Seadrill - will be used for the operations. 

Drilling is expected to begin towards the end of the month and last at least 16 days. 

Equinor is the operator of the field, with an ownership interest of 50%. The other owners include Petoro AS (20%), DNO Norge AS (15%) and Lundin Norge AS (15%).
