Gold Road Resources and the Gruyere Mining Company - a subsidiary of Gold Fields - have announced that commercial production from their joint venture, the Gruyere gold mine, has been achieved ahead of schedule.

The Australian mine’s ramp up began in early August after commissioning of the ball mill, and was expected to take six to seven months. Guidance predicted that commercial production would be achieved midway through the ramp up, but the goal was achieved much faster.

Commercial production was determined based on a minimum total process plant output of 70% nameplate capacity, with a minimum average gold recovery of 85%. The companies expect that these metrics will continue to be met or exceeded in the future.

Gold Road Resources have updated their guidance to predict that 2019 gold production will be at the upper end of their anticipated target of 75,000 to 100,000 ounces.

Located 200km east of Laverton, the Gruyere mine is one of Australia’s largest gold deposits and is expected to have a 13 year mine life.
