The I-Pace will charge from zero to 80% in 45 minutes using a DC 100kw charger. Additionally, mains power can be used to charge the car’s battery ahead of a journey, helping to maximise performance and its range. Owners will be able to set up preferred charging times and schedules from a smartphone app which will make it easier to plan journeys.

Ian Hoban, Jaguar Vehicle Line Director said:

“Not only will the I-Pace charge quickly enough for our customers to carry out their everyday lives, it will offer powerful and precise performance in a variety of conditions and climatic extremes,”

“Allied with the versatile credentials of our celebrated Pace family, this will be an electric performance SUV like no other.”

The I-Pace is powered by a 90kwh lithium-ion battery and will drive on twin electric motors on both the front and rear axles. They will generate 700Nm of torque and 400bhp, accelerating from 0-60mph in four seconds.

Hoban added:

“Electric motors provide immediate response with no lag, no gearshifts and no interruptions. Their superior torque delivery compared to internal combustion engines transforms the driving experience.”

The I-Pace will launch on 1st March during a live broadcast on the internet and will be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show on 6th March.
