As part of a joint venture, Nova Mirai Engineering, an Italian subsidiary of Chiyoda Corporation, Saipem and Daewoo Engineering and Construction have received a contract for the engineering and procurement of the Nigeria LNG Train 7 Project.

The value of the contracts is over $4 billion and Saipem’s share is approximately $2.7 billion. Saipem holds a 60% stake in the project, with Daewoo E&C holding 30% and Chiyoda 10%.

The Nigeria Train 7 Project consists of the construction of one complete LNG train and one additional liquefaction unit with a total capacity of approximately eight million tonnes per annum (mtpa), plus other extensive associated utilities and infrastructure.

The Train 7 plant will be built on Bonny Island in Niger Delta. The project is expected to take around 5 years to complete. When the project is in production it is expected to produce about 8 million tonnes of LNG a year.
