Retention at FircroftThe skills shortage facing the Oil and Gas industry has been well documented and it is becoming increasingly important to ensure we retain and utilise our candidate database. Over recent months, our Retention Team and Senior Representatives have been working on new strategies, to improve the retention rate across the global business.

This is a positive step for both our clients and our contractors. Our clients can be sure we aim to retain our contractors and improve efficiency, by facilitating their transfer from one project to another. For our contractors, we can limit the time intensive job searches often required when they are between assignments, by providing continued updates on our client vacancies.

It has become our objective to proactively align other suitable vacancies prior to assignment completion, by matching professional experience and skills to some of the most exciting and challenging engineering projects currently active around the world.

How we do it
The focus for the Retention Team is on the re-assignment of expatriate international contract personnel and national resources, across our international clients and their projects. This is achieved by coordinating the movement of contractors across the global market, through the understanding, identification and transfer of key skills to ‘like for like’ projects.

When a contractor approaches the end of their assignment, it is essential we manage the leaving process effectively; to identify their key skills, industry experience and establish which projects they can be transferred to. We are also committed to presenting our contractors with opportunities in challenging and rewarding roles in their preferred locations.
 
We continue to work in partnership with our clients, discussing project and resource planning. The sharing of information is critical to coincide with the completion of one project and the commencement of another and to maintain the continuity of assignments for our contractors, if possible, with the same client.
