The deal is expected to immediately secure 30 jobs at Subsea 7’s Aberdeen office, with up to 50 jobs created at peak.

Located 27km offshore Scotland, the project is operated by SSE Renewables. Earlier this week it was announced that Total were purchasing a 51% stake in the project.

Subsea 7 have not confirmed how much the deal would be worth, but have classified it as “major”, which the firm defines as being over $750 million.

The company will manage the EPCI of 113 wind turbine generator foundations and around 300km of associated inter-array cables. This work will be undertaken by their renewables unit, Seaway 7.

"Seaway 7 brings a wealth of offshore wind knowledge and expertise and we are pleased to welcome them and their Aberdeen team to Seagreen," said John Hill, Seagreen project director.

"We are looking forward to continuing our successful collaborative relationship with SSE Renewables as we help construct Seagreen,” said Steph McNeill, executive vice president for renewables at Seaway 7.

"We have been active in the UK Renewables sector for over a decade and are very pleased to continue to support the ongoing energy transition in the UK.  The Seagreen project will be managed from our Seaway 7 office in Aberdeen, bringing our offshore wind expertise to the largest offshore wind project in Scotland."
