Tesla is betting big on the Model 3. Elon Musk wants the Model 3 to be Tesla’s first mass-produced vehicle with 240,000 scheduled for production within the first year of release. But with more Tesla’s on the road, will also come the need to provide far more places to get them serviced and repaired.

In addition to the 100 new service centres, Tesla is also rolling out other innovations to the traditional servicing process including over the air software updates and remote diagnostics. Soon, owners will have the ability to schedule services directly from the on-screen display in their car. Further to that, Tesla has also claimed that around 90% of service requests will be able to be completed outside of a repair centre. To that end, Tesla intends to add an additional 350 mobile repair units to its service division.

With all of these new additions to its service division, Tesla will effectively be increasing its worldwide service capacity by 350%. The Model 3 is soon to be pouring out of production facilities and into the hands of owners so it’s safe to bet that Tesla will be needing to hire the skills of engineering and technical professionals more than ever.
