The New Year nearly always brings thoughts of finding a new job, creating a new challenge or diving into a new opportunity. But with only a few days left in 2017, now is the time to kick your job search into high gear.

Job search tips

Here are the top three things you can do to maximise your job search going into 2018:

1. Review the year

Take a step back and reflect on how far you have come over the past year. Then, decide where you would like to take your career for the coming year ahead. You might consider a change in role or even a change in industry, either way it is important to map your goals out in order for you to work out how you are going to get to where you want to be this time next year.

It is also a good opportunity to review your CV and update it with anything that is missing from the past year such as projects, titles, dates and any additional tasks you have completed. By doing this, you know that when you apply for new roles in 2018, you are giving yourself the best chance you can to secure a contract.

2. Talk to the professionals

Recruitment consultants that work on these roles everyday know what they are talking about and a lot of the time, they have recruited for the position you are interested in more than once. Above all, they are here to help you and will do everything in their power to help you secure a role that is perfect for you.

3. Increase your networking opportunities

Every job seeker should have a list of target companies in their industry. This allows your job search to be focused and streamlined. LinkedIn is a great tool to help you increase your network, whether it be connecting with colleagues or following companies that you are interested in and engaging on their posts regularly.
