Video of the week: What happens if you jump out of a self-driving Tesla?

The ability to sit back and let the car drive itself has been a big selling point for Tesla. But what happens if no-one is in the driver's seat?

First of all: do not try this. This is an extremely dangerous (and stupid) stunt that could get you or others seriously hurt or killed.

As you'll see, it's not like Tesla haven't built in safety features to stop this exact thing. Take off the seatbelt and the car will stop itself.  Open the door: same. But wiggle out of your seatbelt and crawl out of the window?

Ok it's unlikely anyone's ever been that desperate to attempt this - especially when it means leaving your expensive car to drive on without you. That is, until now. In this video by Youtuber Chikichu, you can see that it is possible to awkwardly shuffle out of your window and run alongside your Tesla if the mood strikes you. Though, again, we urge you not to.

It should also be noted that Teslas will stop after 25 seconds of not touching the wheel. So the car won't get that far away from Mr. Chikichu by itself.
