The Company:
Subsidiary of major energy company, operating offshore gas fields and onshore gas processing terminals.

The Role:
This role in the A&R function has two primary functions:
Support the delivery and reporting of accurate financial accounts to the E&P Operated Assets business
Provides technical expertise to ensure that accounting standards are appropriately applied to the business, reviewing the impact of future changes and liaising with Group technical accounting department where appropriate .

The Role
The job will combine a degree of routine activities with advisory aspects. The key aspect of the role is delivery of month end and year end financial reporting requirements. This may include activities such as analysing and preparing accruals, posting journals, calculation of taxation, analytical reviews of P&L, cash and balance sheet, balance sheet reconcilations and, potentially, preparation of the statutory accounts. A fundamental aspect of the role will be the preparation of monthly performance reports.


Given the business is relatively complex, interpretation of accounting regulations can have a significant impact on the reported result. This role is pivotal in identifying appopriate accounting policies, highlighting issues to management and resolving issues with the support of the group's technical accounting department. "Scanning the horizon" for future changes and assessing the impact are essential facets. Accounting issues can span the range of accounting standards given the complexity and size of the business.


The key challenge is understanding the various different business units (in both the Irish Sea and North Sea) in order to support them effectively and make correct appraisal of accounting issues.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Professionally qualified accountant with significant experience of technical accounting
Good communicator and highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
The role requires a strong technical knowledge and good analytical skills to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
The person should continuously seek to improve process efficiency and concentrate on value-adding activities.
