The Role:
The Payroll Manager will own the delivery of high-quality payroll processes to achieve excellent customer service to both Contractors and internal customers. They will manage the workloads of the team to meet all payroll deadlines and ensure accurate and timely payment of all contractors and deliver desk side coaching and ongoing support to all the team members in their day to day activities.

The Payroll Manager will instil the Fircroft behaviours within all team members and promote a high-quality customer service environment for all internal and external customers.

* Overall management responsibility for the Payroll team including:

o performance reviews
o one to one meetings
o desk side coaching
o team meetings
o daily team huddles
o development and training plans as appropriate

* Drive the team to deliver excellent customer service to both Contractors and internal customers

* Monitor team performance in processing 100% of timesheets within the agreed SLA defined for each of the payroll timetables

* Ensure the accurate recording of and follow up on all payment and processing errors to ensure 100% recovery, including root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence

* Ensuring timely compliance with all statutory and other reporting linked to payroll activity, including HMRC queries and intermediary reporting

* Ongoing improvements of best practices and maintenance of payroll procedures/processes

* Ensuring personal and team compliance with Fircroft policies and procedures, as well adherence to legislative requirements including GDPR and CCO

* Approving Bacs payments

* Supporting the payments team with any contractor payment queries

* Supporting the Treasury department with company funding requirements, including liaising with relevant business units/regions

* Ensuring adequate out of hours cover for the regions (including America and Middle East)

* Consulting and supporting with ongoing business projects involving payroll

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Educated to degree standard or equivalent preferred

2 years' experience of managing teams in a fast paced Service Centre environment

CIPP or equivalent qualification preferred

Working knowledge of HMRC and other statutory payroll related requirements

Knowledge of the Tempest system would be an advantage
