The Role:
You will be a member of the Physics team , having a strong focus on end-customer needs, involving front- line customer support, performing specialist radiometric measurements at customer sites, especially Sellafield and LLWR, and consultancy services. Travel to various sites (UK and abroad) may be required. You will be expected to be based at our new Warrington facility but will also work closely with team members at our office at Seascale, near Sellafield as appropriate.

(The responsibilities listed below make up the main content of the job but are not exclusive and you will be expected to perform all such duties and tasks as may from time to time reasonably be required)

* Provide physics support (measurements and modelling work) for measurements projects meeting the required customer standards and our internal QA procedures, under the guidance of the line manager, project technical lead or other senior colleagues as appropriate
* Produce or assist in the preparation of technical documentation (project design documents, test specifications, safety documents, calibration documents, physics analysis reports, quality procedures, conference papers).
* Liaise with the physics and projects teams and contribute to the design, development and commissioning of radiometric assay systems, as required for assigned projects.
* Assist with preparation of tender submissions and proposals for radiometric assay equipment and other projects, as required.
* Assist with development of new radiometric techniques by participating in in house and international development activities.
* Present technical work at internal and customer meetings, conferences, workshops and sales-related events.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Physics, Applied Physics or equivalent Degree.
* Working knowledge of radiation measurement techniques
* Practical experience of solving radiometric assay problems using laboratory equipment.
* Knowledge / experience of nuclear reactor physics / fuel cycles, or radioactive waste management practices and regulations, would be an advantage.
* Comfortable with using numerical analysis techniques, programming, spreadsheets.
* Knowledge of radiation transport modelling using codes such as MCNPX would be an advantage.
* Experience of working on nuclear licensed sites, especially Sellafield, would be an advantage.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Good interpersonal skills
* Organisational skills.
* Ability to work unsupervised or as part of either a small physics team or a multi-disciplinary team
* Able to deal with, and understand, technically complex problems.
* Security cleared (preferably DV-cleared)
