The Role:
The Production & Operation Manager is responsible for all aspects of production output at the Farnborough manufacturing facility, including product quality and on-time shipping. They are responsible for meeting the agreed financial metrics for the facility including Revenue, EBITDA and New Working Capital. They are responsible planning, organizing, directing and running optimum day-to-day operations to exceed financial and non-financial metrics. Also responsible for developing initiatives for continuous business process improvement, ensuring that business process outputs are in harmony with the organisations strategic goals, in particular as a LEAN manufacturing champion.

Key Responsibilities
Planning, organizing, directing and running optimum day-to-day Farnborough manufacturing operations to exceed financial and non-financial metrics. Includes all aspects of production including supply chain, manufacturing, testing and shipping. This includes:
* Leadership of the production team including performance management and training & development. Creation of cross-functional skillsets and ensure training needs are addressed.
* Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
* Planning & organising production schedules (through use of the ERP system).
* Chairing regular S&OP meetings with the sales, projects & engineering and production teams
* Effective project management to ensure all tasks are delegated and effectively completed in a timely manner.
* Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions. Work closely with Quality Manager to maintain quality control standards.
* Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
* Direct responsibility for the implementation of Lean / Kaizen approach in production, and a lead advocate/ mentor across the UK business
* Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
* Definition and execution of Lean / Kaizen events to deliver improvement in Revenue, EBITDA and NWC
* Development of capacity in alignment with the divisional Long Range Plan
* Ensure that health and safety regulations are met

The Company:
Our Client is one of the UK's leading suppliers of instrumentation for a diverse range of applications in the nuclear industry.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* At least 5 years' experience within a similar position.
* A background in or trained in Six Sigma or Lean Methodology
* Minimum HNC/HND level in an electronics/mechanical engineering discipline.
* Experience in the use of ERP systems, preferably AX 2012
* Ability to assess priorities and work on own initiative
* Hands on approach
* KPI driven
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work under pressure in an environment where resources are limited.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* High standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Results focused and committed to achieving deadlines.
