CNC Machinist

The Role:
The CNC Machinist activities span the following key areas:
* Production of machined parts by planning, programming, setting up and operating both manual and CNC machines.
* Continual Improvement.
* Safety.
* Maintain high quality standards including keeping records, maintain equipment and supplies.
* Plan machining operations by reading works orders, engineering drawings, specifications and other work instructions.
* Resolving issues or queries with drawings or other work instructions.
* Programming CNC lathes and milling machines.
* Proving programmes and other first-off operations.
* Setting and operating both manual and CNC machine tools.
* Ensuring accurate routing data and other issues are recorded.
* Organising and maintaining both tools and the working environment to achieve efficient operations.
* Working with the Shift Team Leader to continually push machine operations for the best productivity
Continual Improvement
* Ongoing assessment of machining processes and procedures to identify and implement improvements.
* Identifying new working methods, tooling or other systems that may improve efficiency.
* Identify Lean and 5S opportunities.
* Knowledge and understanding of hazards, PPE requirements and emergency procedures.
* Responsible for house-keeping of allocated work areas.
* Promote adherence to JFN's Health and Safety Policy, for example:
* Reporting near misses and accidents.
* Point of work risk assessments and method statements
* Adherence to JFN's manufacturing processes and procedures to support consistency and quality of manufacturing work.
* Work with Production Engineer(s) and Inspectors to resolve quality issues.
* Complete self-inspection and measuring of components prior to final Inspection.

Our client has been established for over 20 years locally and is focused on delivering design solutions to the nuclear industry, specialising in the design of mechanical handling plant and equipment, the design and installation of plant control systems and the provision of support to plant safety reviews.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* A wide range of precision machine shop skills and experience.
* A thorough understanding of engineering drawings and dimensional/geometric tolerances.
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
* General competency in computers, CNC machine programming and computer-aided manufacturing tools.
* A commitment to continuous improvement.
