The Role:
The EHSQ Manager (Operations)'s activities span the following key areas:
* Supporting Central EHSS and Quality functions
* Project based EHSQ roles and activities
* Employee Development
* Line Management
* Tendering Tasks

Responsible for completing all assigned EHSS&Q audits and inspections as detailed within the company audit schedule.

Responsible for carrying out activities and ensuring compliance with the following continual improvement processes:
* Customer Feedback
* Non Conformance (& Corrective / Preventative Action)
* Learning From Experience
* Management Review

Assist central functions to ensure efficient closure of corrective and preventative actions.

Assist central functions in the maintenance and continual improvement of management system documentation.

Responsible for investigating (or assisting the investigation of) near misses, accidents and non-conformances as required.

Implementation of continual improvement initiatives such as visual management tools and 'toolbox' talks.

Ensuring respective facility's compliance in accordance with company and statutory requirements.

Ensuring all facilities documentation relating to HSE regulations is recorded and available for audit purposes.

Ensuring all sub-contractors involved in providing maintenance or site service support are verified as safe to work on premises and have a RAMS in place prior to work commencement.

Ensuring compliance with site specific environmental permit conditions (as applicable).

Project Roles and Activities

Responsible for the project specific quality management arrangements associated with projects that are not working to JFN standard processes/procedures. Ensuring that all customer specific requirements are reviewed and where required incorporated into the company integrated management system (IMS).

In both cases, this includes:
* ensuring minimum quality requirements are met
* ensuring the Quality Plan(s) detail the correct procedures for the project
* ensuring project specific processes/procedures/work instructions / forms are implemented to cover any interfaces / gaps created by the project requirements
* ensuring staff are briefed on the processes / procedures / work instructions / forms to be used on the project
* auditing project activities to ensure the project specific arrangements are adequately implemented and being followed
* Verification of LTQR packs
* Providing Environmental, Health and Safety support on projects including review of EHS Plans, Risk Assessments and Method Statements and providing support to onsite activities as and when required.
* Providing support with regards to Project Dose Management to ensure all Project staff remain in compliance with group Ionising Radiation Policy, local procedures and IR99 regulations.
* In all cases, ensuring the approach is appropriate to the scope of supply, e.g. COTS, MOTS, bespoke engineering.

Employee Development

* Conducting performance appraisals for individuals within the allocated group
* Frequent (minimum monthly) contact with staff to ensure their professional and personal development is on track
* Developing a supportive, encouraging and learning environment
* Identifying training needs, developing, communicating and supporting training programmes and initiatives
* Working with the Head of Capability and other internal stakeholders to recruit new employees (e.g. reviewing CVs and conducting telephone / face-to-face interviews.)

Tendering Tasks

This may include but not be limited to:
* Evaluating the scope of project specific EHSQ activities
* Identifying relevant standards and statutory requirements
* Estimating costs and durations for EHSQ activities
* Composing technical responses to quotation requests

The Company:
Our client has been established for over 20 years locally and is focused on delivering design solutions to the nuclear industry, specialising in the design of mechanical handling plant and equipment, the design and installation of plant control systems and the provision of support to plant safety reviews.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* NEBOSH NGC Preferable
* Minimum IOSH Managing Safely
* IRCA Accredited Lead Auditor qualification
* Working towards membership of a suitable institution (e.g. CQI / IOSH)
* 5+ years' experience in an EHS&Q management role with excellent people management skills.
* Excellent knowledge of ISO management systems, in particular ISO9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO17025 is advantageous.
* Experience of dealing with certification bodies, and customers at all levels.
* Experience in performing workplace safety inspections with the aim of promoting a positive safety and quality culture throughout the business
* Experience / knowledge of continual improvement tools
* Experience in a regulated and process driven environment, preferably engineering based.
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational, time management and decision making skills.
* Used to working In a fast moving project-based environment
