The Role:
Our client are looking for an estimator (manufacturing) to work on a project based in Preston.

Roles and Responsibilities will include:

* Review of Specifications and customer requirements.
* Prepare of estimates for Materials, Fabrication, Machining, Assembly, Testing, Installation and Commissioning to complete the project programme.
* Produce supporting commentary for the tender document and provide any manufacturing responses to specific relevant tender questions as required as part of tender return.
* Complete within tender budget.
* Establish the risks, exclusions and assumptions to be included within registers.

Tender Preparation Tasks will include:

* Liaise (through Senior Bid Leader) with the Client on technical matters throughout the tender period as required.
* Input to the Scope of Work and associated Work Breakdown Structure (with (Senior) Bid Leader).
* Agree Make / Buy decisions with other Bid team members (through (Senior) Bid Leader).
* Prepare estimates.
* Prepare project execution and deliverable commentaries.
* Respond to specific tender questions as and when required.
* Input to the preparation of overall project programme (through Projects).
* Materials estimate through valid quotations from approved suppliers (through Procurement).
* Assessment of risks and compilation of appropriate contingency.
* Identify of relevant risks, exclusions and assumptions for inclusion in register from area of expertise.
* Participate in Final Tender Approval.

Key Skills & Competencies

* Tender preparation experience in a similar engineering environment.
* Ability to understand a variety of engineering requirements, client specifications, drawings and technical requirements and ensure that the key issues are adequately catered for in the bid.
* Working knowledge of electronic data management (MS Office Excel, Word & Power Point)
* Sound understanding of the interaction between the contract deliverables, the estimating process and the programme requirements.
* Liaison with key suppliers to ensure best value is obtained (where necessary).
* Good oral and written communication skills to ensure submission of a compliant concise and well-presented tender document.
* Time management skills.
* Commercial Acumen.
