The Company:
Our client has been established for over 20 years locally and is focused on delivering design solutions to the nuclear industry, specialising in the design of mechanical handling plant and equipment, the design and installation of plant control systems and the provision of support to plant safety reviews.

The Role:
The Senior EC&I Design Engineer (PLC Systems) is a design engineer with responsibility for undertaking or complying with the following:

* PLC Software Design Tasks
* SCADA software interface
* EC&I Hardware interface
* Project Management Interaction
* Estimation of task duration
* Quality Compliance
* Health & Safety

Within the framework of the above activities, the main purpose of the role is to provide PLC testing and commissioning support at the customer site, working as a member of the plant software commissioning team.

Carrying out specific tasks to meet the time, cost and quality requirements of projects. The PLC Systems Engineer will be familiar with but not limited to:

* Design briefs
* User requirements specifications
* Software definition documents
* Control philosophy documents
* Scheme design risk assessments
* Directive compliance assessments
* Design review

Detail design generation consisting of;

* Software system specifications
* Software design review

Production of manufacturing documentation consisting of;
* PLC / software code
* Module / integration tests
* Factory acceptance tests
* Operation, maintenance and installation manuals

Take part in;
* Client meetings
* Testing activities
* Commissioning activities

Checking of software deliverables produced by other team members

Project Management Interaction:

Interact with project management staff to achieve the best outcome for the projects;

* Agree remaining work durations
* Highlight (at the earliest opportunity) when a task will not be completed to a previously agreed timescale
* Identify and report change

Estimation Tasks
This may include but not be limited to;
* Creation of concept solutions
* Estimating durations for design of tender items
* Composing technical responses to quotation requests

Quality Compliance
Complying with quality policies and procedures, with particular emphasis on;

* Test and Commissioning procedures
* Software version control

Health & Safety
Complying with health and safety policies and procedures, with particular emphasis on;
* Take reasonable care for own health and safety and the health and safety of others
* Report all accidents and near misses to their Line Manager or Safety Representative
* Not operate any equipment they have not been specifically trained to use

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Software design, coding, testing and commissioning of Rockwell PLC systems, particularly using RSLogix.

* Understanding of Rockwell SCADA systems (FactoryTalk View - Studio 5000) and PLC interfaces.

* On site test and commissioning of Rockwell PLC systems.
