The Role:
Our communications network provides the digital connectivity within and between our main operating centres, remote offices, operated offshore assets and drilling facilities. The "Back Office" infrastructure, line of business systems and client computers that are reliant on this network connectivity are protected from external cyber-threat and risk by perimeter security devices, the digital barrier protecting our intellectual property, information and systems.

This individual will be responsible for the installation, configuration and on-going management of Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless LAN (WLAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) and Perimeter Security infrastructure in operation across the organisation.

* Provide technical support and assistance in the installation, configuration, deployment, maintenance and management of the LAN, WLAN, WAN and Perimeter Security infrastructure across the business
* Mitigate identified threats and vulnerabilities in order to maintain the integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and devices
* Maintain consistency of device hardware, configurations, profiles, standards and naming conventions across the business
* Adhere to the IS Call Management Process for the logging, tracking, and resolution of problems recorded
* Provide assistance to the Network & Security Architect in both design review and technical evaluation of network & perimeter security technologies deployed throughout the organisation
* Maintain the Firewall policies, Rule-bases and Application Blades across the organisation, design and implement new rules as and when required to meet business requirements
* Maintain consistency of device hardware, configurations, profiles, standards and naming conventions across the organisation
* Maintain proactive monitoring, logging, fault resolution, system upgrades, administration & maintenance, security, IOS patching, backup management / system recovery of the infrastructure
* Produce system performance/capacity statistics, diagnostic information as well as site "as built" documentation for the supported infrastructure
* Provide input into the planning, coordination and delivery of identified projects and activities; ensure that all projects introducing changes to the network & security infrastructure go through the 'handover to operations' process before close-out
* Liaise with external service support organisations as required
* Adhere to the IS Change Management process, ensure that changes affecting our business are communicated effectively; liaise with IS colleagues to successfully plan and execute changes

Previous experience in a network engineering role
* HND/Degree qualifications are favourable, professional technical accreditations from industry bodies are preferred
* Oil industry experience is favourable
* Must be willing to go offshore for ad hoc visits

Core Competencies:
 Previous demonstrable experience of performing a similar network engineer role in a multi-national corporate environment
 Diligent and security conscious with the ability to weigh up the threats, vulnerabilities and risks to the organisation and implement appropriate solutions or measures that do not impact the continued operation of the Business
 A methodical and structured approach to problem solving, selecting and effectively utilising appropriate methods, procedures, tools, equipment and standards, to meet all targets set
 Ability to identify gaps in the available information required to understand a problem or situation, and devise a means of remedying such gaps
 Capable of working across organisational boundaries and with multiple cultures
 Proactive, adaptable, taking action and anticipating opportunities
 Offshore Medical & Survival Certificates preferred
Technical Competencies:
 Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) / Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) is preferred
 Experienced in the installation, configuration & ongoing support of core network/security technologies and products including but not limited to CISCO Nexus switches, 29xx/37xx series switches, 29xx series routers, ASA firewalls, VPNs, as well as wireless controllers and access points
 Experience working with CISCO Nexus 7K & 5K series switches, 4500X series switches would be advantageous
 Experience with Juniper SA appliances and Checkpoint NGFW Firewalls would be advantageous
 Experience with offshore telecoms would be advantageous
