The Role:

This role is responsible for my clients over-arching strategy for the end to end management of materials across the business. As part of the Supply Chain Department the Materials Manager reports to the Head of Materials and Logistics Management, and will manage the materials function supporting all UK, Norway and NL operations ensuring compliance to the Company materials management policy and internal control standards.

They are embarking upon an exciting transformation journey to drive continuous improvement across the business to achieve our vision of becoming a sustainably top quartile operator. This role will be a critical part of that journey leading the implementation on a suite of performance improvement initiatives to eliminate waste and support business performance alongside the management of our day to day needs.

The Materials Manager shall be responsible for the management and maintenance of material movements and shall be required to work closely with the Wells Team, Assets Team & Projects Team to ensure correct processing of material movements and returns.


o Measure and manage the end to end performance of material supply chain.
o Ensure that the published MM processes, standard, procedures and work instructions are fit for purpose and clearly understood throughout the UK, Norway and NL businesses.
o Deliver appropriate training and functional guidance to operations groups to ensure efficiency and compliance with standards.
o Responsible for the UK, Norway and NL businesses compliance to the corporate policy and assurance processes.
o Work with the business to optimise their current inventory holding and support operational business needs.
o Support movement of materials to / from offshore to ensure efficient and safe operations are maintained and materials are accounted for and tracked.
o Actively engage with MM team to ensure that knowledge sharing takes part to further enhance the MM process and procedures.
o Manage, review and implement the warehousing strategy and 3rd party storage locations.
o Management of 3rd Party Warehouse personnel.
o Manage all MM contract with support from M&L Category Specialist.
o Oversee the review of inventory levels ensuring any excess can be eliminated or justified.
o Ensure effective and efficient inventory recovery takes place for all disposals.
o Liaise with Legal, Tax, Risk and Finance departments to ensure compliance with Company disposal and re-sale policy.
o Ensure customs compliance of all UK materials movements to / from onshore / offshore locations.
o Manage OCTG support for the UK business.
o Ship Work End Use governance for material to their prescribed use.
o Participate in On-call Duty Rota for the Materials Team to support Logistics and Wells teams in Onshore / Offshore operations.
o Support of existing and future projects and initiatives to drive efficiencies across Materials Management.
o Understand the health, safety, environmental & associated legal requirements that are relevant to the work and ensure the team complies with these. Help the team to understand and actively promote issues regarding health, safety & the environment.
o Expected to be aware of warehouse and yard hazards and to intervene if an unsafe act is witnessed. Proactive implementation of Company HSE policy at worksites.
o Accountability for performing all duties with due regard to the health, safety of self and others and of the environment in which they are undertaken.


o Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead and implement projects at a business level.
o Strong communication skills with the ability to approach and discuss issues with Internal and External members and management of all levels.
o High level of understanding around the use of inventory management systems.
o Strong knowledge of SAP system and IM / WM modules.
o Educated to HNC/HND Level.
o Previous experience in materials management or related business support function.
o Significant experience in inventory control experience with an Oil & Gas Operator or Service Company.
o High level of understanding on the financial implications of material management.
o Competent user of business systems, SAP, MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
o Proven experience of relevant functions within the IM and WM module of SAP
o Knowledge and understanding of HMRC control requirements.
o Competent in Import and Export procedures in line with current HMRC legislation.
o Knowledge and understanding of OCTG materials requirements
o Project Management Professional
o Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Sea and Air
o OPITO offshore training (BOSIET, MIST)
o Offshore Medical Certificate
o Coshh Awareness
o Well Control Awareness
o SAP Super User
