The Role:
Our client is large utilities organisation and they are looking for someone to start in the Contract Administration role on a contract basis until the end of August. In this role you will be responsible to provide expertise, supervision and support in contract administration in the role of Superintendent's Representative on medium to large infrastructure projects. Also, to provide contract administration advice and support in the preparation of tender documents and support to Project Management Business Unit.

Key accountabilities:

  • Appointed by the Superintendent to fulfil the role of Superintendent's Representative to administer three party commercial contracts.
  • Facilitate the resolution of contract administration issues.
  • Lead progress meetings with contractors and ensure OSH, environmental and quality policies and procedures are communicated, understood and followed.
  • Regularly inspect construction sites, report on OSH and environmental compliance
  • Review Quality Management System (QMS) documentation with contractors.
  • Provide input into the selection of Contractors, Subcontractors, Suppliers and Consultants.
  • Support members of tender evaluation panels to analyse tenders for projects and make recommendations for awarding of contracts.
  • Maintain contract administration records that can be interpreted by an independent third party in the event of dispute and/or resolution by mediation, arbitration or a court of law.
  • Prepare contractor performance reports on time, cost, quality, OSH and Environment
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Contractors Representatives, Delivery Managers, Project Directors, Project Managers, Superintendents and Superintendent's Representatives to efficiently deliver projects.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline such as engineering, construction law, quantity surveying. OR
  • Contract administration experience in Superintendent's Representative and/or the Superintendent role managing contractual responsibilities on infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in managing all contractual aspects of tendering, tender evaluation, negotiating and awarding of contracts.
  • Experience in preparing, negotiating and executing variations and extension of time claims.
  • Proven contract management experience in the delivery of infrastructure projects.
  • Experience of Contracts Management, Administration, and Financial Controls in civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical works.
  • Well-developed relationship management, contract negotiation and influencing skills.
