The Role:
Our client is looking for a Senior Advisor Media to join them ASAP on a short-term contractual position. In this role you will be responsible for coordination of media matters to ensure the organisation's reputation, credibility, good public standing, and image are maintained and enhanced in all circumstances.

Key responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Daily management of the company's media liaison by working closely with the COO/CEO, GMs and relevant Branch
  • Managers to respond to journalists' enquiries.
  • Proactive planning and implementation of media activities and events to support the promotion of the Business e.g. writing media releases, articles, speeches etc.
  • Edit and approve media releases drafted by others and proactively arrange for these to be shared on social media and internal publications.
  • Provide Executive Team with media coverage in a timely manner in order to proactively approach issues that may arise.
  • Relationship management with key media contacts and other Government Agencies media advisors.
  • Provide support and advice to Corporation employees, with regards to Ministerial and media matters.
  • Review reports about the Corporation to analyse and provide strategic advice on information.
  • Assist with the communications response to corporate incidents as directed by the Senior Media Coordinator and External Relations Manager.
  • Represent the Company.
  • Write content for, and respond to enquiries on, social media channels.
  • Update the 'Media Centre' on the Company's website.
  • Provide strategic advice to the digital team about issue that arise on social media that affect the business.

Our Client is a leading Government owned utilities company with assets across Western Australia. Their main objective is to provide sustainable management across various services.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Tertiary level qualification in journalism, public relations or other communications related discipline.
  • Previous experience working with the media in a liaison capacity, generating positive media coverage and responding to enquiries.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, for both traditional and social media.
  • Good strategic vision for media opportunities and areas of concern and the proven ability to propose appropriate actions.
  • The position requires some out of normal business hours work.
  • Ability to summarise complex issues for common usage.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Genuine interest in media and current affairs.
  • Ability to research and extract information from a wide variety of sources.
  • Practical understanding of Government processes and the competing demands
