The Role:
Fircroft is looking for an experienced Team Leader - Wastewater Treatment to assist our state government client to lead the provision of a specialist engineering and scientific consultancy service to support wastewater treatment operations throughout the Company. In this role you will be responsible for all advice and support activities provided by the Wastewater Treatment Team to maintain or improve the Corporation's wastewater treatment process performance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for all advice and support activities provided by the Team to maintain or improve the Company's wastewater treatment process performance.
  • Plan and coordinate scientific and engineering investigations for assessment of wastewater treatment processes and technologies
  • Support the provision of advice to address Corporate Incidents and implement incident management processes as required.
  • Manage the provision of site-based support for wastewater treatment assets.
  • Provide specialist advice to Infrastructure Design Branch on wastewater treatment related design standards.
  • Lead and develop a central knowledge repository of wastewater treatment operations, processes and technology.
  • Support Water Quality Branch audit functions and requirements.
  • Monitor and assess the applicability of, and manage the implementation of new methods and processes
  • Support the implementation of wastewater research and development initiatives and strategies in the area of wastewater treatment technology,
  • Support the development of an effective team, team communication processes, and team commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Engage with relevant internal and external customers and stakeholders to ensure delivered products and services meet their needs.

Our Client is a leading Government owned utilities company with assets across Western Australia. Their main objective is to provide sustainable management across various services.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification (degree level or higher) in relevant scientific or engineering field.
  • Broad experience in wastewater treatment process design, operations, chemistry, microbiology or related laboratory & analytical services
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and technologies.
  • Proven experience in technical report writing and preparation of standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrated computing skills and knowledge of the use of wastewater quality data bases (e.g. WWQMS, ODSS, etc.) and Microsoft suite of applications.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, particularly intra-Corporation.
  • Demonstrates the values and behaviours that contribute to a constructive, high performance culture.
  • Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:

  • Higher degree qualification in relevant field (e.g. Masters, PhD).
  • Relevant experience with troubleshooting and optimising wastewater treatment processes in a research and/or operational environment.
  • Experience in relevant Corporation systems (WWQMS, ODSS, PI).
  • Experience in simulation and modelling tools.
