The Role:
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Materials, Corrosion & Welding Engineer to start immediately on a short term contract, based in their Perth CBD office.

This role is responsible for robust specialist materials and corrosion technical support and oversight across assigned areas of responsibility, including current operating assets, minor modification projects and input into major capital projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide specialist SME level technical materials, corrosion & welding support.
  • Lead and maintain oversight of materials, corrosion & welding issues to maximise lowest total cost of ownership.
  • Ability to prioritise work within the materials & corrosion group and ensure work is executed on time and with excellence.
  • Ensure facilities engineering work tracking management processes such as Facilities Engineering Request Register (FERR) are used for tracking and managing all applicable work scopes.
  • Review and approve deviations as per the Company deviation management process.
  • Lead and develop the identification of degradation threats and barriers for input in Risk Based Inspection programs and ensure risks are accurately represented.
  • Monitor outputs from the Integrity Operating window (IOW) program establishing risk mitigation actions as appropriate and report findings and actions to key stakeholders.
  • Identify gaps in the IOW system and with key stakeholders to resolve.
  • Develop and own Asset Strategies and corrosion management plans.
  • Provide technical advice on corrosion issues related to regulatory compliance and safety.
  • Provide technical support in the assessment of anomalies and fitness for service assessments. Develop and implement temporary and permanent repair solutions.
  • Provide specialist technical support for corrosion monitoring, management & mitigation, coatings, cathodic protection.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Expert level in materials, corrosion and welding support of operating oil and gas assets.
  • Experience spanning design, construction & operation of onshore and offshore assets including complex process facilities and subsea pipelines strongly preferred.
  • Expert level in Integrity Management and Corrosion monitoring, mitigation & management.
  • Ability to lead a group of materials, corrosion & welding engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multifunctional team.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork with ability to leverage efforts with other functional groups.
  • Ability to problem solve technical issues and communicate those solutions at all levels.
