Our client are currently recruiting for a Plant Process Engineer to provide technical and operational support to the sites operations teams. The Role:
Key responsibilities:

* Provide technical understanding, oversight, guidance and training to the operations teams for assigned plant areas. Primary point of contact to provide day to day support to the production team to resolve escalated problems from the shift teams. Work closely with the Senior Plant Process Engineer to escalate more complex and longer term issues.
* Continuously challenge plant manufacturing performance. Understand the best achievable capacity, variable costs and product quality. Have expert knowledge of the key manufacturing drivers to the best achievable performance. Work with operating teams to ensure key drivers are achieved and manage any deviations.
* Conduct and lead RCAs and other technical problem solving activities. Ensure corrective actions are identified and implemented
* Identify key plant improvement opportunities. Initiate and drive through to completion plant modifications and improvement activities to enhance the overall operating effectiveness of assigned plant areas
* Provide manufacturing team input to the projects team to ensure projects installed meet the operability, and safety requirements of the plant, including installation and commissioning plans. Act as commissioning engineer for assigned projects as applicable.
* Accountability for thorough safety assessment of plant modifications for assigned plant areas. Ensure any changes to process technology, plant operating / maintenance methods or plant equipment or manning has been evaluated appropriately for the COMAH impacts and that the designated Responsible Engineers and Major Hazard Plant advisors have authorized the change where applicable.
* Gatekeeper of the Management of Change process for assigned plant
* Take ownership of assigned plant trials. Ensure through technical and safety assessments are carried out in a timely manner and trial is communicated appropriately within the manufacturing team.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Chemical / Process engineering graduate
* Chemicals manufacturing experience
* Manufacturing operational experience including manufacturing improvement (driving CI culture change) and delivery of measurable business benefits.
* Experienced in leading problem solving teams both cross-functional and within Production, Engineering and Technical functions (lead, coach, engage)
* Proven ability to think through problems, undertake appropriate analysis and take effective actions
* Sound knowledge of manufacturing improvement strategies and approaches (e.g. OEE, Capacity Roadmap, Six Sigma, Lean, MTBF, MTTR, Failure Rates etc.)
* Strong communicator and influencer, skilled at mobilising and inspiring technical contributors with or without direct line management authority, at all levels in a manufacturing organisation
* Well-developed IT skills (including Excel, PI / FIS, MiniTab) including the ability to create tools within the packages
