Head of QSSHE

Key responsibilities include:

Team Leadership - act as line manager for Team Leaders from the following QSSHE disciplines, providing direct leadership and mentoring:-
o Occupational Health
o Environmental
o Projects, Decommissioning and Diving
o Verification
o Assurance
o Incident management

Team Liaison - Liaise with the following teams to ensure effective intra-QSSHE team delivery:-
o Technical safety
o Operational Safety

Regulatory Management -
o Provide a regulatory interface between client and the various industry statutory regulatory bodies (Health and safety Executive, BEIS, Environment Agency etc.).
o Maintain regulatory visit schedules and liaise with operational elements to facilitate.
o Act as focal point for all communications with the regulator and maintain a register of commitments and responses.
o Provide regular reports with regard to the ongoing status of regulatory concerns/ commitments. Support data delivery for key risk management processes.

Technical Support - Provide technical support to the QSSHE and broader operational teams, principally in the areas of regulatory and best practice compliance.
o Ensure, through industrial engagement, that client are aware of and contributing to technical improvements across the UKCS.

Internal Assurance - Develop and maintain current assurance processes to ensure that we maintain compliance with regulation and internal processes. Work with senior management to ensure output is reviewed and implemented as part of continuous improvement process.
o Maintain ISO 14001 certification
o Verification Scheme - Maintain the verification scheme to its current high standard and ensure that it delivers effectively across the range of its responsibilities. Manage a large verification contractor and associated budget.

Safety Critical Tasks:
 there will be some responsibility for the supervision of Safety and Environmentally Critical tasks

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Educated to degree level preferably in an engineering or allied discipline. Chartered or similar professional status from a Safety/Environmental body would be an advantage.

NEBOSH Certificate preferred.

Extensive knowledge of HSE systems, practices and legislation, underpinned by at least 10 years' experience at a senior level position as an HSE Manager in the energy or chemical industry.

Broad based experience embracing upstream (onshore and offshore) gas operations, with a sound understanding of the challenges involved in managing the complete range of QSSHE issues at Regional/Group level.

Some projects/ decommissioning experience would be an advantage

Ability to evaluate and interpret legislative requirements and advise/ influence accordingly.

Strong interpersonal, influencing and relationship management, skills.

Present a clear vision for the continuous improvement of QSSHE across the Business, using demonstrable experience to manage all elements of the QSSHE function, implementing strategic plans to achieve long term goals.
Work in collaboration with other senior business leaders to maintain the business as class leading in all aspects of HSE delivery.
A flexible work style is a prerequisite, as is a collaborative approach.
