The Role:
Job Specification

Job Purpose
*Support development of Project materials and welding specifications ensuring that all recent lessons learned are properly incorporated.
*Interface with pipe mills, coating and other suppliers to support vendor qualification and technical evaluation process.
*Coordinate development and execution of quality and inspection/test plans to ensure appropriate implementation of Project specifications.
*Witness and oversee key manufacturing activities ensuring that Contractor executes scope as per Project and Company specifications in addition to all other relevant standards.
*Ensure that his entire scope of work is completed in accordance with all applicable safety and quality standards.

Reporting and Relationships * Reports to Head of Pipelines

* NFE Offshore Topsides and Pipelines PMT
* Qatargas Supply and Quality Departments

Generic Accountabilities - All Employees

Safety Health & Environment
* Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality policies in addition to all other applicable regulations and standards.

Qatarization Program * Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is a condition of employment for expatriate employees.

Firewall Compliance
* Ensure all activities undertaken comply with anti - trust and competition laws and the Company firewall policies and procedures.

Key Job Accountabilities
1. Review and provide key input to linepipe, welding, coating and any other materials Project specifications.
2. Liaise with QG Quality Department to provide input to ongoing TMCP linepipe qualification program and related weldability trials.
3. Ensure that Project specifications properly capture all lessons learned from past projects including ones related to TMCP pipe manufacturing and associated welding best practices.
4. Interface with potential linepipe, welding and coating suppliers to support vendor qualification and technical evaluation process.
5. Lead development of all quality and inspection/test plans related to linepipe procurement and provision of welding and coating services.
6. Coordinate execution of quality plans with particular emphasis to TMCP linepipe manufacturing and coating.
7. Oversee Contractors and witness key manufacturing steps to ensure compliance with Project and Company specifications in addition to all applicable safety and quality standards.
8. Provide materials engineering expertise to support development of specifications for Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).
9. Interface with HDD Contractors to identify material and coating requirements and provide input to pipeline onshore crossing design.

Part B: Person Specification - Minimum Requirements

*Bachelor degree in Materials or Mechanical Engineering. Advanced degree desirable.
Knowledge and/or Experience
*15+ years of relevant experience as Materials Engineer in oil and gas industry.
*Experience in Welding Engineering and development of welding procedures.
*Significant experience in working with FEED/EPC Contractors and interfacing with pipe mills and coating suppliers.
*Demonstrated ability to conduct quality audits and lead the implementation of inspection and test plans.
*Demonstrated ability and sensitivity to work with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds

Technical and Business Skills
*Highly proficient in linepipe manufacturing and coating processes with emphasis to TMCP pipe.
*Familiar with all major linepipe and welding industry standards (e.g. API and DNV).
*A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
*Computer literacy involving the regular use of professional office applications and some technical applications.
*Job specific experience can be substituted for any qualification, knowledge, or experience requirements.
