The Role:
Role Overview The role provides financial and management accounting to the UK Business Unit relevant to a portfolio of upstream E&P assets in the UKCS.
Reporting to the Group Accountant and Reporting Team Leader, the role will assist in the preparation and delivery of various forms of reporting associated with the UK Business Unit's financial and non-financial performance. This will include financial accounting reporting associated with Premier's Corporate LSE reporting requirements, monthly management reporting and annual budget preparation. Reporting will be delivered to both the UK Business Unit and the Group Head Office in London.
The role will also assume other general accounting responsibilities as required, including preparation of certain reconciliations, provision of intercompany accounting requirements and assisting in liaising with external auditors.

Key Accountabilities
1 Delivery of and quality control over bi-annual reporting to London Group Head Office to satisfy external financial reporting requirements and ensuring financial information is compliant with IFRS requirements and Group financial accounting policies.
2 Maintenance of balance sheet control and reconciliation procedures on a monthly basis. To include performance of allocated balance sheet account reconciliations for review by line manager and review of reconciliation prepared by others.
3 Monthly reporting of financial and non-financial actual and forecast performance against budget as part of the BUR (Business Unit Report) process
4 Assist in co-ordination of the annual budget process for reporting to senior finance personnel / management and monitoring of budgetary compliance to ensure that appropriate funding is in place to support operations.
5 Cash flow forecasting for preparation of funding requests to London Group Head Office.
6 Maintain the Aged Debtor report and receivables register and manage any credit control issues that may arise.
7 Assist in liaison with external auditors at half year and full year audits, ad-hoc project work e.g. Systems updates / implementation, Acquisition and Divestment work and general finance processes as required e.g. banking, tax support.

Major Challenges
Meeting reporting deadlines associated with Month end reporting, Annual / half year statutory reporting, Corporate budget preparation.
Ensuring compliance with IFRS / Group Accounting Policies.
Co-ordinating inputs from various sources, both Finance and non-Finance, to deliver necessary reporting.
Building strong working relationships with local management / asset managers, and Group Planning / Finance functions, to ensure a quality product in terms of key deliverables.

Financial Accountability and Dimensions
Meet monthly / annual reporting timetables (financial accounting and management accounting).
Complete allocated tasks to required standard of accuracy and in accordance with Finance requirements.
Performance will also be measured on the ability to demonstrate improvements in key processes within the finance function.

Management Relationships (include direct / indirect reports, external parties)

Indirect (internal employees / external parties):
Finance Manager. Indirect relationship with senior management within the business unit who have considerable input into monthly management accounts.
Indirect relationship with Corporate Head Office in London where reporting will be provided to the Group Planning and Group Finance departments.

Professional exam qualified (preferably CA / ACA / ACCA but CIMA considered)

Candidate Profile (include Skills & Experience, Attributes, Behaviours)
Skills / experience:
ICAS, ACCA or ICAEW trained with robust understanding of IFRS application
Understanding of Oil and Gas specific accounting policies and standards
Financial accounting / statutory reporting experience, preferably within a mid-tier / big 4 firm
Knowledge (e.g. systems, software, procedures, regulations):
Proficient use of Microsoft office, particularly Excel.
Proficient use of Premier systems including;
* SunSytems accounting system
* IBM TM1 enterprise planning
* IBM Maximo asset management
Attributes and behaviours:
Strong inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team, both within the Finance function as within the cross-functional asset team.
High degree of numeracy and ability to work to tight deadlines at key reporting periods.
Ability to relay information to senior management and London Head Office as required.
