The Role:
- The role is responsible for providing corporate leadership, support and assurance in the area of Occupational Health & Safety and will be the Group Technical Authority on the Company's Golden Rules.
- The role will support the Group Head of HSES & Technical Safety in the further development and implementation of the corporate HSES Management System and will own and drive improvement across all policies, standards and procedures related specifically to Occ.H&S.
- The successful candidate will play a key role in all corporate assurance processes related to the management of Occ.H&S, playing a key role in corporate HSES audits, project HSES reviews and other on-going assurance activities.
- The role will provide technical support to BU leadership teams, BU Occ.H&S Leads and others as required across the business and will support the Group Head of HSES & Technical Safety in the development of personnel and their systems of work so as to build and maintain a high performing HSES function.

Skills and experience required:
* Broad and extensive experience within Upstream Oil and Gas (or a similar, relevant industry);
* Held position of Project / Asset H&S Manager or Lead for a major oil or gas operator;
* Work experience includes time working in site based / offshore positions;
* Experience of working across different aspects of the E&P sector (e.g. for operators, main contractors and across drilling / production ops.)
* Experience in maintaining / delivering H&S MS to certification to international standard OHSAS18001
* Strong track record in H&S leadership;
* Extensive demonstrable experience in site based auditing for Occ. H&S;
* Extensive demonstrable experience in incident investigation (including root cause analysis)
* Proficient H&S Trainer for both offshore and onshore based personnel;
* Highly developed influencing skills;
* Strong mentoring and coaching skills;
* Track record of management of professional technical staff and first level managers;
* Ability to confidently represent the company in an outward facing role, dealing with senior stakeholders;
* Excellent Standard /Procedure writing and reviewing skills;
* Good general knowledge of the oil industry;
* Comfortable reviewing and interpreting complex regulations and laws.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications
* An appropriate H&S based qualification i.e. NEBOSH Diploma / Bachelors / Masters Degree Desirable
* Demonstrable professional qualifications / competency in H&S risk assessment; incident investigation; HSES auditing

Knowledge of systems, software, procedures, regulations:
* UK Occ. H&S Regs and associated codes of Practice (inc. LOLER, PUWER, CSE, WAH, NAW, COSHH, PPE).
* OHSAS18001 / ISO 45000 Standards
* IOGP H&S Standards and publications
* DROPS materials
* DNV Synergi Life (or other similar incident reporting tool)
* CGE Bow Tie
* MS Office Suite
