The Role:
The Subsea Asset Engineer is a key member of the Subsea & Pipelines Team and the subsea focal point for the asset teams. The asset engineer is responsible for reliability of the subsea systems, diagnosis and rectification of faults, management of spares and maintenance of all subsea technical information for their designated subsea asset(s). In addition this role acts as a focal point/technical expert for subsea controls across all assets

Key Accountabilities
* Subsea focal point for onshore and offshore asset teams. Responsible for the reliability and uptime of subsea systems from Xmas tree choke to topsides control system
* Job responsible engineer for subsea system fault diagnosis and repair, preparation of repair methodologies and associated work requests for onpass to the Diving and ROV operations engineer for offshore execution.
* Responsible for the maintenance of subsea technical information, including drawings, manuals, photographic libraries.
* Responsible for subsea maintenance strategy for asset, including the management of emergency and obsolescence spares.
* Preparation of compilation of subsea budgets submissions for nominated asset.
* Surveillance and condition monitoring of subsea systems, including hydraulic fluid cleanliness, umbilical status, valve operations and sensor operation.
* Offshore technical representative for repair/maintenance scopes on Asset, DSV or ROVSV when deemed necessary.
* Liaison with regulator to obtain necessary approvals for modifications to subsea architecture and any consents required for ROV and Diving operations on nominated assets.
* Responsible for the management of change of subsea systems within designated asset including ensuring all associated documentation, drawings and systems are identified and updated to reflect any change,
* Provision of subsea asset knowledge and operations input to new projects
* Provide input to and feedback on implementation of local and group standards and procedures
* Technical Owner for subsea controls contracts. Develop leading/lagging KPIs and initiatives within Diving and ROV contracts to drive performance improvements
* Subsea controls focal point for all assets, providing technical expertise to support other asset engineers.

Major Challenges
* Embedding surveillance and subsea risk management into assets.
* Developing pragmatic approach to maintenance and sparing strategies that balance risk and cost.
* Maintaining good customer focussed relationships with asset onshore and offshore teams. Ensuring any identified risks are assessed with appropriate mitigations in place.
* Financial Accountability and Dimensions
* Maintaining budget forecasts for asset activities over a 5year horizon
* Compiling annual budget submissions.
* Delegation of Authority, where appropriate.
* Management Relationships (include direct / indirect reports, external parties)
* The role reports directly to the Subsea Operations Manager

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications
* Tertiary Education at a technical level (e.g. HNC, HND, Degree or MSc)
* Qualified to travel offshore in UKCS.
* BOSIET / FOET and current Offshore Medical Certificate
* Sound understanding of subsea systems and interfaces with wells and topsides systems
* Subsea Controls experience and knowledge
* Sound understanding of subsea system fault diagnostics and rectification techniques
* Sound understanding of production operations and maintenance
* Knowledge of Diving and ROV operations for inspection, repair and maintenance
* Knowledge of subsea and pipelines integrity management and use of inspection systems to support core processes
* Knowledge of budget management
* Experience of client/operator roles in a subsea operations support role
* Knowledge of degradation mechanisms for pipelines, risers, umbilicals, structures, valves, manifolds and subsea infrastructure
* Experience in tendering and contract management
* Ability to analyse problems
