The Role:
The main purpose of this position is to provide petrophysical support to the companies Australasian Business Unit's asset teams responsible for company operated and/or non-operated assets as required, including but not limited to:

  • Apply company-standard analysis workflows and generate reservoir statistics for static/dynamic models.
  • Assist earth scientists and reservoir engineers in reservoir model building;
  • Provide fluid substitution for geophysical applications;
  • Integrate formation evaluation results with other key disciplines (rock physics, stratigraphy, geologic modelling, reservoir engineering etc)
  • Populate and maintain company database with field data and post drilling log data
  • Generate interpretation reports, covering methodology, results, observations and insights
  • Participate in peer reviews and petrophysical network activities to share, adopt & disseminate best practices
  • Help prepare and review logging, coring and core analysis programs for company operated exploration, appraisal and development wells
  • Provide technical guidance into routine and special core analysis work programmes.
  • During drilling campaigns, liaise between Operations Geologist, Drilling/Completions, and service company representatives to help execute and monitor LWD and WL data acquisition programmes, including but not limited to;
  • Work with the Rock Mechanics and Operations Geology teams to provide accurate and reliable log data and interpretations through overburden and reservoir intervals in support of operational decisions;
  • Provide quick-look operational support during times of drilling or logging operations;
  • Capture lessons learnt through the log data acquisition process and ensure new learnings are applied to future data acquisition programs.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Relevant Earth Science or Engineering Degree
  • Experience: 10+ Years industry experience (at least 5 years in petrophysical role)
  • Be proficient in the use of formation evaluation programs, such as GEOLOG and TECHLOG, to perform a wide spectrum of petrophysical analyses
  • Be proficient in the use of MS office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to write effective interpretation reports, covering methodology, results, observations and insights.
  • Quality control, correct and understand the limitations of wireline, LWD and core analysis data;
  • Integrate formation evaluation data from multiple sources and multiple wells;
  • Understand the pros and cons of application of deterministic and multi-mineral petrophysical workflow
  • Team Player who can work and communicate in an effective manner within a multidisciplinary team, Joint Venture Partners and other functions
  • Ability to prepare and present oral presentations to Petrophysical Assurance meetings and internal knowledge sharing events such as the Petrophysics Community of Practice
  • Willingness to share learnings and adopt Best practices
