The Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Decommissioning Technical Safety Engineer to lead and complete Regulatory Safety Approvals and supporting safety studies for the decommissioning of project facilities and gas export pipeline.

Reporting to the HSE Lead, responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Deliver timely required Regulatory Safety Approvals for the decommissioning Project scope
* Co-ordinate and manage third-party contractors performing Safety Case and supporting studies
* Support regulator engagement activities as required
* Ensure a coordinated and consistent approach for technical safety and risk, as required across Projects and Base Operation, by collaborating with Technical Safety peers as required
* Identify Safety risks, issues & opportunities and collaborate with the project team to identify and implement mitigation strategies to reduce risk to ALARP
* Develop innovative solutions to reduce identified hazards
* Provide input to project documents for external stakeholder engagement such as a comparative assessment for decommissioning
* Provide loss prevention/technical safety support
* Facilitate project hazard and risk assessment workshops as required, eg HAZIDs, HAZOPs

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Relevant engineering degree
* Extensive technical safety and risk experience with emphasis on upstream development, brownfield modifications, production and/or decommissioning operations
* Strong technical knowledge of Loss Prevention engineering, as relevant to the oil and gas industry
* Experience with formal safety assessments for safety case development
* Demonstrated ability to obtain Safety Case acceptance/approval
* HAZID & HAZOP facilitation experience
* Experience with input to project execution documents e.g. HSE management plans, H&S Philosophies, technical evaluations and studies, Key Decision Records etc.
* Working knowledge of Australian legislation and regulations and its application to Safety approvals for upstream oil & gas projects.
* Proven major project delivery.
* Demonstrated project management experience (e.g. project planning, prioritization, scheduling, critical path analysis, cost tracking, contractor/consultant engagement/management)

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Working knowledge of the Joint Petroleum Development Area legislation and regulations and its application to Safety approvals for upstream oil & gas projects and experience co-operatively working with ANPM
* Experience with Safety Case acceptance/approvals for offshore production facilities
* Experience with Safety Case acceptance/approvals for drilling rigs and P&A campaigns
* Experience with Pipeline Safety Case and subsea infrastructure installation/ removal safety case acceptance/approval
* Marine heavy lift HSE execution experience
* Oil and gas Installation/Construction HSE experience
