The Role:
Our Client is looking for an Environmental Specialist to provide support in gaining environmental approvals required for project activities, particularly within the Subsea & Pipelines space. Ideally you will have previous experience preparing Environment Plans and Oil Pollution Emergency Plans, and experience liaising with NOPSEMA.

Reporting to the Environmental Lead, responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Identify environmental and social risks related to project activities, support maintenance of a Risk Register and develop mitigation strategies that can reduce potential impacts and risks to ALARP and acceptable levels
* Support the preparation and delivery to gain regulatory acceptance of the Environment Plans (EPs) and Oil Pollution Emergency Plans (OPEPs) required for the Project, including participation in stakeholder engagement
* Communicate the environmental and compliance risks and requirements for the project to other functional groups and contractors as required.
* Support project activities to comply with corporate HSE requirements, including those required to pass through the project phase gates from FEED through handover to Operations for commissioning and HSE deliverables and reporting
* Support project activities to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements, including reviews and audits both on and offshore
* Prepare and submit internal and external reports and related documentation

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering or science, biology or related sciences
* Extensive experience with approvals, monitoring and compliance experience with emphasis on upstream exploration, development and production activities
* Previous experience preparing and developing regulatory documents under Australian federal and state/territory environmental legislation including the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 and Environment Protection & Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and its application to oil and gas projects
* Experience in consultant/contractor management and contract development
* Demonstrated project management experience
* Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills
* Strong interpersonal skills; ability to maintain and develop positive relations with both internal and external stakeholders
