The Role:
Senior Instrument and Controls engineer to work as a focal point for all control and instrumentation engineering activities across two major brownfield assets for this global supermajor.

Key accountabilities are:
* To lead the instrument and control engineering discipline in providing technical support and direction for operations and maintenance
* To respond as required to incidents, breakdowns, operability issues, and emergent work for all instrument and control systems and equipment.
* To manage instrument and control discipline engineering input for changes to the facilities, including obsolescence progression, minor projects, capital projects, etc.
* To maintain procedures, technical standards, documentation and drawings for instrumentation and control systems engineering, design and equipment
* To be informed of and respond to facilities demands for engineering support in a timely manner, keeping all interested parties regularly informed of issue status, progress and outlook.
* To sponsor key Vendors and Contractors, maintaining effective working relationships, leading scope development, overseeing execution and ensuring timely and quality Vendor support to the facilities
* Leads responsibility for instrumentation and control software change control, including vetting of all proposed changes, coordination of changes, registering current configuration, upkeep of instrumentation and control databases including establishing and monitoring archiving and backup processes.
* Oversees the implementation of modifications and the project management of capital projects within budget and on time.
* Ensures performance and reliability of instrumentation and control equipment is monitored and where appropriate improvements made to maximise safety performance and effectiveness.
* Fosters an atmosphere within the instrument and control engineering group that allows each person to achieve job satisfaction and contribute to the general excellence of the engineering function.
* Fosters continuous focus on retention of safety and environmental control performance requirements of systems, maximising efficiency of operation including pursuing opportunities to increase production yield, minimise unnecessary shutdowns and minimise costs.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Engineering (Instrumentation/Controls/Electrical or equivalent)
* Minimum 10 years post-graduate industry experience in process control systems and field instrumentation either within an operating organisation, engineering contractor or vendor.
* In depth knowledge and experience of process control systems technology (DCS, PLC, SIS etc.) including specifications, engineering, design, installation, commissioning, technical support, maintaining and upgrading.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* 2 years' experience as a lead discipline engineer or engineering supervisor is desirable
* Has been or has acted as a Technical Authority in the field of control and instrumentation
* Chartered Engineering Status with recognised engineering organisation (Engineers Australia or equivalent).
* TÜV Functional Safety Engineer or equivalent
