The Role:
The Subsea Materials Engineer will be a technical expert capable of advising the project on matters relating to materials technology for high temperature subsea applications.They will be responsible for oversight of materials design of the Subsea Production System; through FEED and Execute phases, ensuring correct selection and quality is achieved. This position reports to the project Engineering Lead and forms an integral part of a multidiscipline owner's engineering team.

Key Accountabilities
* Technical assurance ensuring material selection for subsea production system items is suitable for project conditions.
* Expert review of subsea production system deliverables to ensure that design, materials qualification programmes, manufacturing procedure specifications and inspection/test plans achieve the required quality of materials.
* Accountable for CP design and corrosion coating selection for the SPS
* Technical guidance and follow up to qualification programmes.
* Integration with project materials team, SME and contractors to achieve a cohesive project materials approach.
* Management of 3rd party contractor to provide additional materials input, review and design.
* Develop and manage engineering scopes of work in FEED and Execute to achieve project requirements and enhance understanding of the design.
* Interface with internal and external stakeholders to achieve alignment.


Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert technical direction through FEED and Execute for all materials supply, manufacturing, fabrication and welding related to the subsea production system including trees, valves, headers, jumpers, connectors and structures.
* Provide materials input into advanced FEA analyses of components or sub-systems
* Provide advice and guidance on interpretation and use of industry codes and standards including DNV, API, ASME and NORSOK
* Identify, scope and manage 3rd party engineering studies to provide input to materials design
* Lead site technical teams for follow up of MPS and MPQT activities and manufacturing of production parts
* Integrate with design teams to ensure the optimum solution for project goals and requirements.
* Provide assistance to procurement package leads to ensure that the quality and functional requirements of the design are achieved.
* Contribute to ITT package preparation to ensure the requirements of the subsea design are captured.
* Assist with technical evaluation of ITT packages.
* Build collaborative relationships and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders and contractors.
* Monitor and report scope, schedule, cost and risk trends through the project phases.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Engineering or Science Degree.
* Minimum 10 years of experience in the specification, design and implementation of subsea materials.
* Excellent metallurgical knowledge, international standards knowledge and practical delivery experience for large bore forgings, manifold headers, diverless connectors, structures and linepipe and coatings (jumpers).
* Excellent knowledge of manufacture and quality control of corrosion resistant alloys in solid, clad/lined and overlay forms.
* Experience of working with high temperature and highly corrosive environments
* Experience managing interfaces between design, SPS and Installation contractors.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contribute proactively in team environments.
* Analytical/technical aptitude with a practical approach to problem solving.
* Experience working in Australian O&G industry and knowledge of regulatory regime
