The Role:
Our nuclear client are recruiting for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join their client team based on site at Whitehaven, Cumbria. This role is to support the client locally as well as the larger nuclear team based in the UK. This role may require occasional travel to site and other offices for meetings.

You will be responsible for the delivery of packages of work to time, cost and quality to meet both customer and business requirements, you may have responsibility for a significant project, or for several smaller projects.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for civil/ structural engineering design services
- Undertake the services above as required by role in the project (this will vary for each task such as Lenders Engineer, Owners Engineer or Detailed Designer)
- Assist the client in developing scope of works for new projects and tasks
- Delivery of scope of works and identification of change
- Be aware of level of detail required for the different stages of the project (concept, preliminary, tender design, detailed design)
- Check and review of drawings/calculations produced by technicians and engineers
- Attend progress review meetings with the client
- Attend SDDR and MDDR meetings with the client
- Undertake design reviews of 3rd party deliverables and substantiate comments in discussions
- Conversant with latest codes and standards for design of civil / structural engineering elements ideally conversant in regulations and design philosophies used in civil / structural engineering in the nuclear power generation environment
- Support business development activities including prospective client visits, preparing bids and estimates, writing responses, input into schedules etc.
- Carry out dimensional and topographical site surveys together with structural inspections. Prepare inspection reports with detailed conclusions and recommendations

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
You will be able to demonstrate strong design experience from a nuclear environment, some project management experience would be advantageous; including design, project execution and delivery. You will have excellent communication and leadership skills.

Ideally you will be a chartered engineer, or working towards it, with experience working in the nuclear sector although candidates with other regulated industry experience will be considered.

Candidates must be eligible to apply for and obtain UK security clearance.
