The Company:
Our client is a global market leader within the energy sector with projects in over 30 countries worldwide. Here in Australia, they are involved in one of the largest LNG projects with operations spanning exploration, production and downstream. The Role:
Our market leading client is currently seeking a materials buyer to join their Darwin based team to help support the operations and procurement team. The role is a fixed term 3 year role and will report into the business support manager.
Responsibilities will involve
* Supervising all aspects from the initial preparation right through to the close out of purchasing
* Liaising with international and local suppliers for materials and making sure that communication, commercially and contractually efficient.
* Organize on contractual, commercial, taxation, insurance, HSES and legal issues
* Resolve all technical queries within the team and support colleagues as well as ensuring line managers are up to date of with relevant purchasing activities
* Negotiate with suppliers on all matters relating to terms and conditions, improved pricing of quotes received and delivery options that may be more economic and timely
* Optimisation of the Procure to Pay processes by assessing the current processes and recommending improvement opportunities in a constructive way
* Expedite the delivery of purchased goods and ensure their compliance with the required specifications and delivery date
* Identify issues and provide solutions in line with the Contracts & Procurement procedures
* Guarantee confidentiality of contract documents is maintained
* Prepare RFQ, purchase orders and assess responses

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Experience in procurement within the oil & gas industry
* Knowledge of Sourcing and Procurement processes
* Experience in contract formulation activities, systems and processes.
* SAP skills (MM module) and an awareness of functions of the AP and PM Modules)
* Previous exposure to Inventory, cataloguing, quality control, logistics and warehousing principles
