The Role:
Our client is seeking a Materials Buyer who will be responsible for procurement support to Operations in relation to purchasing of inventory and other miscellaneous minor procurement items. You will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects relevant to the prequalification, preparation, issue, receipt, opening and assessment of tenders and award, and then execution, management and close out of Purchase Orders.

Key responsibilities:

* Source local suppliers for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) spares and bulks to ensure Australian Industry Participation objectives are being considered and implemented
* Prepare Request For Quotations (RFQs) and evaluate responses
* Negotiate with suppliers terms and conditions of POs, and improve prices
* Coordinate on contractual, commercial, taxation, insurance, HSES and legal issues with relevant internal stakeholders
* Resolve technical queries with Operations Maintenance group
* Raise Purchase Orders (POs) and resolve queries as required
* Expedite the delivery of purchased items and ensure their compliance with the required specifications and delivery date
* Facilitate resolution of invoice queries with Account Payable and suppliers
* Ensure that full audit trail is maintained for all procurement transactions
* Provide procurement advice to operations staff
* Identify issues and provide solutions in line with the Contracts and Procurement procedures
* Maintain positive vendor relationships.

Key qualifications, skills and experience:

* Minimum 3 years procurement experience, preferably in an oil and gas industry operating environment
* Solid understanding of Inventory, cataloguing, quality control, logistics and warehousing principals
* Experience in contract formulation activities, systems and processes
* Understanding of local content requirements in the contracting process
* Experience with SAP (MM module)
