The Role:
1. interpretation of customer requirements relating to mechanical/electro-mechanical systems within a product
2. Design and development of mechanical/electro-mechanical systems using the relevant CAE tools, methodologies, DFMEA principles, DFM etc.
3. Collaborate with different disciplines to arrive at an optimal balance of technologies
4. Support the Solutions Architecture team in carrying out feasibility studies for technical innovations
5. Support the Pilot Manufacturing team in introducing a product into serial production
6. Communicate and present design ideas and solutions to customers and senior colleagues
7. Ensure products meet the relevant safety and certification regulations.
8. Contribute to the identification of risks, quantification of risk impact and identification of mitigating actions for a given project or product
9. Prepare technical documentation; mechanical schematics, manufacturing drawings, BoM's, design reports, risk assessments, etc.
10. Estimate and commit to the time required to complete a work package/project stage, communicate potential variance and participate in corrective action, as required
11. Identify and communicate potential gaps/opportunities in product, process, technology, etc.
12. Support technicians and/or craftspeople
13. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the both the department and the company
14. Contribute to and support multiple projects at any one time

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Strong Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Experience with Autodesk suite of products, e.g. Inventor
* Knowledge of / experience with interpretation of mathematical modelling packages e.g. ANSYS
* 3-5 years of proven experience of conceptual design and release for designing and developing complete mechanical products and components at pace
* Experience in design and development of medium (10 off) to high (100 off) volume products
* Experience of operating in a diverse range of industries/sectors
o Preferential to demonstrate an In depth technical knowledge within a specialist area(s)
